double name consisting of Greek male name deriving from St George, soldier and martyr, and Hebrew male name deriving from the Old Testament king of Judah
It is uncertain whether all elements form the king's name. The sam king occurs in DBMNT 638 uder the simple name Dauid. It cannot be excluded that the phrase Georgiou Basileos expresses the filiation ('[son/successor of] King Georgios]. Alternatively, we may be dealing here with an analogous case as in DBMNT 591, where we find King Mouses Georgios refereed to as ⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓ ⲟⲩⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲱⲩⲥⲏⲥ ⲡⲁⲡⲉⲗⲗⲓ (l. 2). If so, the kings full name would have to be spelled Georgios Dauid.
