Comment
It is uncertain how the phrase ⲙⲁⲣⲧⲩⲣ̄ⲟⲥ ⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲩ̄ⲥ︦ ⳝⲟⲁⲥⲥⲓ ⲩ̄ⲥ︦ ⲙⲁⲣⲓⲁⳡⲁ shuold be interpreted. It could be the reference to either Marturophoros' father (Joassi) and grandfather (Marianya) or his father (Joassi) and mother (Marianya). The former would comply with the classical usage of filiation expression. Moreover, the name Marianya is once attested for a man (Nam REF 701853); remaining attestations are unmarked for gender. On the other hand, the filiation expression found in l. 20 of this text contains only the name of Marianya, which – if this were Marturophoros' grandfather – would be strange.
