Comment
Browne translates the phrase ⲙⲁⲥⲓ ⲟⲩⲣⲟⲩ⸌ⲛ⸍ⲗⲟ as two separate names, 'Masi, Ouroun( )', and considers ⲟⲩⲣⲟⲩ⸌ⲛ⸍ as an abbreviation of, e.g., Ourounkouda. However, given the absence of the marker -ⲗⲟ after ⲙⲁⲥⲓ, it seems probable that only one person is at stake here. If so, ⲟⲩⲣⲟⲩ⸌ⲛ⸍ must represent Masi's second name, nickname, title, or office. Perhaps ⲟⲩⲣⲟⲩⲛ is an orthographic variant ⲟⲩⲣⲁⲛ, 'chief', in which the shifted nu does not mark the abbreviation but was simply forgotten and added later by the scribe. Note that chiefs are frequent as witnesses in documents from Qasr Ibrim.
