Meaning and origin unknown. The element 'peti' occurs in other names (Peti, Petiallam, Petikesari, Ishapeti). It may be of Nubian origin, deriving from ⲡⲉⲧ(ⲧ)ⲓ-, 'date, date palm'. The element 'isha' is otherwise unidentified, however.
This may be a variant of Ishapeti (Nam 201030).
